Hvidovre IF suffered a heavy defeat in the friendly match against Brøndby IF, losing 1-8. It happened in the first test match of Brøndby IF's preparations for the Superliga.
What happened?
Brøndby took on their neighbors from Hvidovre IF in a match that quickly developed into a goal fest. In Brøndby's squad, Patrick Mortensen started, playing his first match in yellow and blue after transferring from AGF. Marcus Younis was a constant threat on the wing, and after 18 minutes, the breakthrough came. He was played beautifully through Hvidovre's defense by Sean Klaiber, after which Younis finally sent the ball into the goal with the outside of his foot.
Hvidovre's failure
Hvidovre IF seemed completely overwhelmed at this point, as they couldn't keep up with Brøndby's players. But just before the break, they managed to get back into the game. Alexander Johansen got through the defense and sent a shot, which Gavin Beavers saved. The rebound ended up back with Johansen, who kicked the reduction to 1-3 in the goal.
Consequences for Hvidovre
The defeat means that Hvidovre IF still lies second in the 1. Division with 39 points, three points behind leaders Lyngby. Their recent results have been disappointing, with five defeats in the last six matches, including the last defeat to Hillerød on May 31, 2026. Hvidovre IF must hope to turn their form around if they want a chance to be promoted to the Superliga.
